Municipal Infrastructure Grant

Since its inception in April 2004 the Municipal Infrastructure Grant have allocated R699 million to Gauteng municipalities for basic services and infrastructure investment, increasing to R793 million in the next financial year and to R917 million in the 2006/07 financial year.

The deployment of Community Development Workers is a strategic priority of government, primarily aimed at improving interaction between government and citizens.

Project Consolidate

National government has identified service delivery backlogs and inefficiencies in a number of municipalities. The National Department of Provincial and Local Government (DPLG) accordingly developed a support initiative for local government known as Project Consolidate.

Cross-cutting Programmes

The HIV/AIDS epidemic requires a uniform effort from government and civil society where each component contributes according to its role and strengths, based on joint strategy and plans.
